Calling All Teachers
The Class Proposal Submission Period - December 27, 2022 to February 6, 2023The success of Costume College is reliant on our many wonderful and generous volunteer teachers. Whether you have taught for many years or have just started to share your expertise and knowledge, we want to extend an invitation to join us again this year at the 29th Annual Costume College. We welcome classes based on all areas of costuming: from basic sewing skills to advanced armor fabrication, from historical to fantasy costuming. We are looking forward to seeing what wonderful new skills, knowledge, and talents will be shared this year. We have gathered class ideas from both the Costume College Dean and from the students: Take a look at the list for inspiration!! Class Ideas:
If you would like to address one of these ideas, or know someone who would be amazing at teaching, be sure to contact us and we will reach out specifically. We will be accepting class proposal submissions from December until January. Please don’t wait until the last minute! The Programming Team will finalize the class schedule in mid-February and you will be contacted to confirm which of your proposed classes have been scheduled.
Costume College 2023 Health and Safety Requirements: CGW and the Costume College Committee are committed to providing a safe environment for all of our teachers, students, vendors, and committee members. As such we will be following all current masking, vaccine and/or testing requirements, per state laws, regulations, and ordinances, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, and hotel policies. We greatly appreciate everyone's commitment to helping us provide a safe environment for all of our attendees. We will NOT be requiring proof of COVID vaccination or recent negative PCR COVID test to attend Costume College, the Time Traveler’s Gala and the Sunday Tea. We encourage all attendees to be up to date on all vaccinations prior to attending Costume College. We will NOT be requiring the wearing of masks. However, we recommend the wearing of properly fitting face masks (no bandanas or face shields, please) in all classrooms, tours, the Marketplace, and the Bargain Basement. The CDC recommends wearing surgical masks or higher-level respirators (e.g., N95s, KN95s, KF94s) with good fit. Since the wearing of a mask is optional, please treat others with consideration and respect as everyone navigates their own masking preferences. Yelling, berating, and/or verbal abuse of any kind is considered harassment and will not be tolerated. Any participant at Costume College 2023, including all teachers, students, vendors, and volunteers who harass others over wearing masks, will be asked to leave the event (including the Gala and the Tea) and will not be refunded for the event cost.
If you have any questions or there is anything that you feel would help enhance the teaching experience, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for sharing so much of yourself to help make Costume College a dynamic and engaging experience for all.
